Pest Control Companies

Pest Control companies have been pulling the wool over their customers eyes since the beginning of the industry. They have promised to get rid of their problem once and for all, or provide a 'final solution', only to put you on a never ending pest 'plan' or 'program'. That's great for controlling an insect population, but with a rodent infestation the situation becomes a little stickier. The process works like this: Rats infest your home, pest control sets traps, rats get trapped, rats are gone. A few months later rats return and so does pest control and the cycle continues. Now pest control companies are claiming to offer another 'final solution' and expect all of us to fall for the same trick.

The pest control industry has certainly found something new and exciting to offer their customers! What they've found is a new and exciting way to make money during the 'Off Season' of their pest services to fatten their pockets. Some pest control companies have decided to venture into removing and replacing insulation. In every pest control companies' testimonial about the new service they mention how great it is for their Off Season, nothing is mentioned about the customer. They're at it again and they may have fooled us once, now Attic Guys will make sure they don't do it twice.

The same pest control guy you saw last week spraying insecticide or setting rat traps, is supposed to clean an attic and install new insulation this week. You would never hire a plumber to do heart surgery, nor would you hire a pest control company to do rodent cleanup, decontamination and insulation installation. You need a professional that has mastered his craft and works with the same problem day in and day out. Attic Guys only does rodent cleanup, decontamination, and insulation installation. Add to that we have vast experience doing pest control, over 10 years worth. We know this job like no Pest Control company can.

There are several mistakes pest control companies make when attempting to perform any form of attic cleanup: Obviously, you have to worry about them falling through the ceiling since they don't have experience with Hard Labor in the attic, we all know they pop their head in the attic and set traps near the attic door! Ask them how they decontaminate, they may not have an answer. If they do, ask them what's in their decontaminating product, then look it up! The worst thing they do is try to offer to install insulation over old, contaminated insulation.

New Insulation over Old Insulation
Does that even make sense? In real life when we get a cut or scratch and put a band-aid on it all we're doing it masking the problem while our bodies work on the real fix underneath. Your attic can't fix itself! The benefits of adding insulation are undermined by having old degraded insulation and/or rodent contaminated insulation remaining in your attic! When insulation is initially installed it should be carefully placed between the joists, away from lighting and electrical fixtures, and beneath pipes and electrical wiring. When a pest control company adds insulation their inexperience shows. I've seen, with my own eyes, how they incorrectly install insulation. They alsp literally offer to leave rodent contamination, including urine, feces, and blood in your attic by covering it up! Don't mask your problem, get it fixed.

Pest Control Companies Installing Insulation, what?
Again, I must ask does that even make sense? First and foremost everyone knows to get a job done right you hire a professional. You hire a plumber to fix plumbing, you hire an electrician to fix electronics, you hire a Pest Control Company to install INSULATION. Wait, that doesn't add up. Attic Guys is a professional Insulation Installer. THE only services we provide are Cleanup and Insulation services. Add to that Pest Control Companies may offer you their brand new Pest Control Insulation which offers all the great advantages of new insulation in addition to pest controlling properties. That's great because you have pests, Rats, you need it cleaned up, and you need new insulation. You can knock down two birds with one stone, right? Wrong! Pest Control Insulation ONLY CONTROLS INSECTS. So if your attic is infested with ants, cockroaches, silverfish, or termites (although they recommend using another form of pest control along with their insulation for termites) this insulation may be a great idea, but not so good for rats. Otherwise, you must weigh the pro's and con's. This insulation will not prevent, kill, nor get rid of any rat or rodent, but it contains boric acid to kill the insects, a poison. Once again they're trying to pull the wool over our eyes! But this time they may be making it worst. Not only are they masking the problem, but they're adding a toxic material into our home. Although Boric Acid is among the least toxic of the pesticides available studies have found 'exposure to boric acid has been linked to adverse health effects'. The saftey sheet from one of the manufacturers for the pest control insulation specifically states to call a poison contr center in case this product comes in contact with your skin or eyes. Do you really want that in your home for the next 20 years or more? Any families thinking about having children or their children having children may want to think twice, one of the possible health effects is to the reproductive organs in both Males and Females. Our information comes from the following link which cites the EPA and a reference by the name of 'Toxicology: The Basic Science of Poisons'.
